Company History

From humble beginnings in 1998, Essence now provides contemporary consulting and recruitment to the health, aged care, community and disability sectors. Our mission is to provide clients with quality, practical solutions that enable individuals and groups to achieve business success and growth.

Essence builds on the strong successful careers of its founding Director, Mark Kramer and current Director, Theresa Kramer. Their valuable career experience in senior management and nursing positions in both public and private health care organisations, in both rural and urban environments has shaped a company with a broad scope of practice and familiarity with varied and evolving environments. Utilising skills as facilitators and trainers has enabled Essence to undertake and participate in numerous community consultations, keeping us aware of emerging trends and at the cutting edge of industry best practice.

Substantial career records as consultants and public speakers, working or presenting nationally and internationally including; the USA, Canada, Scotland, Singapore, Malaysia and on Nauru in the Central Pacific, have created a strong international flavour within the company. Our broad experience enables us to think ‘outside the square’ and create solutions which fit individual client needs. This valuable experience and a ‘can do’ attitude has enabled Essence’s clients to develop strategies, policies or systems for continued operational growth and success. As a company, we are committed to developing strong systems that enable organisations to focus their energies, operate successfully and achieve their visions.

The company has grown and expanded in response to client requests. In 2002 we began recruiting Registered Nurses internationally. This recruitment was to assist clients to resolve long-term staff shortages in a cost effective and professional manner. Our approach is to provide candidates whose skills are assessed and tested against the needs of Australian services and to provide compassionate and supportive assistance to the candidates.

The death of our founding Director, Mark Kramer, in late December 2005 was a great loss to the company and the Essence team. Mark was very proud of the company’s strength, diversity and capacity to meet the complex and challenging needs of our clients in a responsive, personal and flexible manner. His legacy to Essence is a company with a strong reputation and a respected place within the health, ageing and disability sectors.

In 2006, Essence and the Kramer family has dedicated the support of a school in Zambia to Mark Kramer. Chainda School has been able to provide desks, chairs and stationary to the children from the support given to World Vision for this cause.

Into the future Essence will continue to bring strong business and healthcare skills to their consulting and international recruitment programs. We are practical, yet strategic and utilise substantial, energetic business skills to develop systems and attain solutions. We focus on and deliver the pieces of the big picture, which create quality outcomes for organisations.

2007 has seen Essence offering more complete staffing solutions for clients. Not only internationally recruiting registered nurses, but domestically recruiting carers, cleaners and hospitality staff, and reviewing and benchmarking clients staffing models. Essence continues to grow and develop with the industry. We work with organisations to achieve their goals and find personal solutions for them - Essence is People for People.
